Bucketlist: The Rickshaw Run

If you know me personally, or you’re one of the few that read my about page, you’ll know that India is really high up my bucket list. I talked about Jack & Finn and Louis earlier in the post about travel vloggers and they joined this crazy two week adventure through India; The Rickshaw Run. As the organizers mention: this is the most insensible thing to do in two weeks. The only certainties you have is  that you’ll get lost, you’ll break down and you’ll get stuck. Call me crazy, but man, I so want to do this!

Basically the concept is very simple. You sign up and pay to receive a tuctuc, a starting point and an end point. The rest is up to you. You have to set your own route, fix your tuctuc when it breaks down (and that will happen) and make sure you’ll enter the finish line within time. Small side note: these badboys have a maximum speed of 55 kmph. Oh, and they’re not that safe or comfortable!

You can join with teams consisting of a maximum of three people (I don’t think you want to be spending all these kilometers with more than 3 people in 1 tuctuc, so that seems pretty legit), you’ll learn the basics about fixing the tuctucs and you can pimp them however you like. (Did anyone just say pink and glitter?)

Whilst surviving in this adventure you’re obliged to be raising money for a charity, which is pretty cool! You get an amazing trip and you’re helping out others on the exact same time!

Jack, Finn and their friends made an amazing series about the Rickshaw Run. You can see the introduction below, the entire 4 part series can be seen on their youtube channel. Also Louis is releasing daily videos which are pretty exciting as well.

Ahhh I so want to do this! How cool is it to just drive around in those tuctucs now knowing what will happen next. By exploring India this way you get to see the country in such a special way and I really think this is a once in a lifetime adventure.

So, who’s up for some fun?

I loved J&F’s series, it was so amazing to see how beautiful India is through their lenses and also how amazing of an adventure it is and see how helpful the locals are. It definitely made me want to travel India even more and also want to do a tuctuc drive although I don’t think I’ll ever manage a long distance like they did haha but it is a fun adventure nonetheless. truly amazing <3

yeah, I think they’re pretty amazing in making video’s! haha I don’t know if I could manage such a long distance either. I’ll probably have to bring a handyman to, because I reckon I can’t fix tuctucs. Still seems like a cool adventure though 😉

Ondanks dat Thailand en Laos me makkelijker te bereizen lijken en iets veiliger zijn, denk ik toch dat ik voor India zou gaan! Snap wel dat niet iedereen zoiets graag in India zou willen doen nee 😉
