Bromo Volcano Java

Only six days we had to spend in Java and we sure spent them well! One of the highlights of our trip through Java was visiting the Bromo Volcano. We stayed in a small town near the volcano which was kind of a creepy town, very different from all other villages we had been to.

We were already pretty high up, which meant that it was a lot colder than we were used to (and of course we didn’t pack for these temperatures). We rented a coat and bought a beanie since we were told that it would be even colder the next day…

After a good night sleep (with some weird people banging on my friend’s door asking if they wanted a free massage, ehh, what about no go away!) we had to wake up around 03.30. We did some pretty good layering of our way to cold clothes and got in our jeep which took us into the pitch black night. It was still so dark that we had no idea where we were driving to and if we were even driving on a road, but we put a lot of faith in our driver and he safely took us up the mountain.

Together with many other tourists (which kind of was a pity) we enjoyed a beautiful sunrise behind the Bromo volcano. When the sun was up it took us some time to find our jeep back,  but after we did we headed to the foot of the volcano.

A pretty hard climb up the stairs bought us to the top of the volcano with amazing views of the crater and the surroundings. It was breathtaking!
